Dress smart – I’ll meet you in the Gotham Club.
…the what, now? Well, apparently AT&T Park has a hidden VIP speakeasy called the Gotham Club – a reference to the original team name from 1883-1885. Any player from the organization’s bi-coastal history has an automatic membership, otherwise it’s offered to a select group of season ticket holders and sponsors for a healthy initiation fee of $2500 and a yearly fee of $1250 (as of 2014). However, besides a wood-paneled bar and game room with a nice view of the game, that also includes things like dinner on the field or batting practice. I can pretty confidently say that, where that my team (and I didn’t have a 10+ hour a day job) I would absolutely cut some corners and join. After all, do you *really* need something as paltry as health insurance, when you can eat on the field and take BP? (I kid, I kid… kinda)
Well I’m wrapping up coverage on the Giants, and I threw together something sharp enough that may get you Looking passable as a Gotham Club member. Well, maybe I’d swap in a button down shirt, but, in all honesty, it is California – we don’t really do business-casual here. I had a tough time picking out what tee to use, as there were several other great offerings from companies like Fresh Brewed Tees and Sports Swag. I was also quite taken with Blade + Blue, as they have personal descriptions for their items, including a hat named for Mookie Wilson (whom I named my rescued pug after). Well done there, guys – I included two of your items because you’re that awesome! Overall, though, I was happily overwhelmed with all the incredible options to choose from in the Bay Area, and super impressed with the product quality. Now, get geared up from all these amazing local shops – your Giants are back in San Francisco tomorrow, and they’ll want to see you there!
