Just a chip off the ole Larry!
As much as it brings me terrible flashbacks as a Mets fan, I feel like I need to show Chipper Jones some begrudging respect. If you’re unfamiliar, Chipper (real name of Larry) Jones spent his entire career with the Atlanta Braves. In the 19 years Chipper played, he was an 8-time All-Star, and generally known for his prowess at the plate – especially at Shea Stadium where he oft times drove my Metsies into the ground. That being said, Chipper seems to have behaved as a reliable teammate and stand-up guy, who renegotiated his salary to allow the Braves more money for free agents, and even went so far as to mount his ATV in a terrible storm to rescue former teammate, Freddie Freeman. So while he’s certainly not perfect, a few flattering comments Chipper has made on Twitter about the Mets in recent years have warmed me up to him ever-so slightly, and me realize that an old rivalry shouldn’t always last for petty reasons 🙂
Now, for today’s Atlanta Braves outfit, I took Larry’s nickname as a cue, and went with some more bright and, dare I say, ‘chipper’ accessories. As somebody with a more athletic build on bottom, I am loving the paper bag waist pants trend, as the billowy thigh is more flattering for me, so I tucked a cute Braves muscle tee into a pair here. I also chose a hat that’s more akin to a cadet or cloche style, rather than the regular cap, to make this a bit more fun. Now, I have to mention, the bracelet that I chose to feature is by a wonderful Georgia local, Carrie, who makes jewelry based on your choice of team colors! Love the stylish spirit! I even found a darling Tory Burch bag with pom-poms that mimics the look of the bracelet, and, naturally, whipped in a few more pieces by some wonderfully talented Atlanta artisans. I purposely avoided heels like the model was wearing, as slides are HUGE this season, but also because you want to be safe climbing those ballpark stairs getting to your seat. Keep cool out there, Braves fans, and look fabulous while you do!
